We are Not accepting applications
for the 2020-21 academic year.
Welcome to Birchwood Montessori! To learn more about our school, please email or call the office. We find most visitors aren’t familiar with Montessori, and encourage everyone interested in applying for enrollment at Birchwood to begin with a tour.
1. Schedule a Tour
PLEASE NOTE: We are currently offering virtual tours of our classrooms during this time. We schedule tours in the morning on a school day, which will give you a chance to see how a Montessori class works. A staff member will meet with you first to lead the tour, providing an overview of Birchwood and the Montessori approach to education. You will then be asked to observe both the primary classroom and elementary classrooms, and then a staff member will debrief with you to help answer any questions. We ask that children not accompany their parents on these tours. Children will have a chance to see the school during the introduction to the environment process.
2. Complete our Application
After your tour and observation if you are interested in enrolling, submit an application for enrollment, accompanied by a $50.00 non-refundable application fee. For students who have prior school experience, the application should include all school records. A records request form is available to download here. Tuition Assistance in the form of scholarships are available on a limited basis to families. Please visit our scholarships page for more information about this.
Applications for the 2020-2021 academic year for new students must be submitted by August 1, 2020.
3. Introduction to the Class Environment
The next step is to schedule an introduction to the class environment for your child. Introductions are conducted by either our primary or elementary guide (teacher). There is no formal testing involved. The child is asked to visit our school for either a half-day or a full day. The teacher will visit with your child to get a feeling for where he/she is in his/her social and academic development and observe social interactions with the other students. A primary aim of the this process is to determine readiness for school and assure a successful transition to Birchwood upon acceptance.
4. Admissions Decision
After the steps described above are completed, our admissions team will be in touch to follow-up about how the introduction went. The application package will then be reviewed by a team to make enrollment and placement recommendations. Applicants will receive an email from the school conveying the decision of the admissions team.
